Decorative wildfowl and fish woodcarvings are highly detailed works of art; they are entirely textured, every feather, or fish scale is apparent, with a goal of total realism. I like to call what I do “Illusionary Realism.”

Extensive knowledge and understanding of any artistic subject is imperative for creating beautiful and moving sculpture. Wood as a medium seems organic and already part of nature. Color is a wonderful tool that can add and complete the art of fine wood sculpture.

I carve because it makes me happy, and brings joy to others. All of my subjects are my inspiration, and some of the most overlooked miracles on the planet. My artwork is dedicated to them, and to my wonderful husband, Dennis.

“The Eagle”

He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ring’d with the azure world he stands.
The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls,
He watches from his mountain walls
And like a thunderbolt, he falls.
